Cast Iron Bird

Cast Iron Bird

This version is crafted of cast iron, or nambu-tekki which was first made in the 17th Century in Iwate, northern Japan, an area rich with the raw material. A traditional craft, it remains popular today. The characteristic black color is the result of a lacquer glaze called urushi which prevents rust. Canoe exclusive.
