Jake Rockwood Wooden Bowl

$150.00

Artist Jake Rockwood creates these hand-turned bowls from wood sourced from fallen trees located from the farms, orchards, and vineyards around his home in Yamhill County, Oregon. The species used are all locally grown hardwoods such as Oregon White Oak, Black Walnut, Alder, Oregon Big Leaf Maple, Cedar, and Ash. Rockwood’s approach to wood working is refreshingly straightforward: rather than relying on fancy inlays or exotic woods, the artist uses the natural variations in grain and color to create a bowl of beautiful simplicity and singularity. Knots and other surface variations are characteristic. Each bowl is one-of-a-kind and signed by the artist finished with non-toxic walnut oil and hand-rubbed to a soft luster.
